Travel stories, a city trip to Lisbon in Portugal, Padrao dos Descobrimentos, the monument of explorers


The Padrao dos Descobrimentos is an erected monument in honor of the Portuguese explorers. The monument is built on the banks of the river Tagus in the district Belém. The monument Padrao dos Descobrimentos is 52 meters high and built in the form of a ship with ball sail, which was also used for voyages of discovery. On the side of the Padrao dos Descobrimentos 33 important figures have been carved out that have occupied an important place in Portuguese history. Inside is a movie room, where the history of Portugal is shown.

The square has been laid out with a mosaic floor, in which a wind rose has been processed with a world map on which the explorers have been drawn.
